Weekends are one of the time that I love because that is also when Frank doesn’t work, so I have someone to go around with. He has been an excellent ‘tourist guide’ so far, and I get to see not only what the tourist see, but also the locals see. (He walks to fast tho!)
After having a relaxing Saturday morning, we decided to go to Den Haag.
Den Haag, or mostly known by The Hague, is the 3rd largest city in the Netherlands. The Hague is the political centre for The Netherlands since the 13th century.
We took the bus from Voorschoten, Centrum, to The Hague Bus Station. The bus stop has a computerised clock that will tell you the ETA of the busses! It will also shows on the screen if there are any delays! Fancy!
When we arrive the bus station, we walked into the city. These are some of the photos that I took while walking.
A Tram Way on the road. There is a traffic light for all the cars to stop when the tram passes by. And yes. the car also use the same road.
The City Hall or City Centre.

The Hague is where most foreigners or immigrants are living. You can see lots of Chinese Restaurant, Surinam’s Restaurant, Indonesian Restaurant here. I was happy to see this sign when I was walking! They have China Town as well!!!
So we walked through the street and went in a few Asian Toko and it smelled like home and saw few familiar canned food, instant noodles, sauces (chili sauce, tomato sauce), curry paste, kicap and everything! That felt good for sure.
These are some photos I took in China Town.

Statue of Willem of Orange
We walk through the street and we saw a group of people gathering and lots of policemen guarding too.
It was a Christian gathering about going against abortion. There was a speaker standing on a small truck with a microphone and when we arrive the square, it was almost towards the end of his ‘sermon’.
So we continue on walking and saw the Mauritshuis (Maurice House). It is an Art Museum where the works by Rembrandt van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, Jan Steen and some others are being displayed.
Next to the Maurithuis, is the parliament building, Binnenhof.
Binnenhof. It looks like a castle!!! It is beautiful! One of the building of the complex is for the Netherlands Prime Minister since 1982.

We also walked by one of the most expensive hotel in town.

We also walked by Escher in Het Paleis. It is where the permanent exhibition of the graphic artist Maurits Conrnelis Escher is being displayed. His exhibition is displayed in the Palies Lange Voorhout. It is where Queen Emma and Queen Wilhelmina once lived.
The entrance fee to the Museum is € 7.50 for adult and free for kids below 6 years old.

After our walk around The Hague, we walk back into the city to find place to eat. Then we settled for the Surinam Restaurant where we ate last Sunday which was VERY NICE!!
Then we took the train back home, and enjoyed a cup of coffee with butter letter to end the day.
Doei!!!
